CHALLENGE
Fully6 is a water slide ride that has six (6) separate water slides departing from a single launch area at the top of the Fully6 tower and ending in a combined run out zone. The proposal is to add six (6) pneumatically operated gates to control entry by guests into each slide. The slides use a red/green traffic light system to advise guests when it is safe to enter an individual slide. The entrance gate for each slide will operate in tandem with the traffic light system.
SOLUTIONS
TPS designed and developed a pneumatically operated gate, in a modular format, that is installed in front of the entry to each slide. These slide entry gates are self-contained units each supplied with a plug connector for the IO cabling and a quick release air coupling.
In conjunction with the slide operations personnel, a new procedure was developed to co-ordinate the control of the ride with the lifeguards, ride supervisor, rider detection systems and water flow. The new procedures were developed and programmed into a new PLC with improved operator displays through a HMI with alarm recording systems.
The ride can operate in a fully automatic or semi auto mode with confirmation of safe conditions by the ride supervisors.
The gates were installed and tested in a short two week shutdown during a slow period for the park during which the slides were only in operation on weekends.
